Hm, I am not sure that I really like what I see.. I think this new series will turn out just as crappy as all of the television series are, now-a-days. Isn't there anyone with any sort of passion for creativity, originality, innovation, etc.? It seems like they just pump out alot of old school material, soup it up, and make it look good but the story line and plot both fail. I bet the acting will be just as horrible as Smallville and very cheesy. If I had alot of money and was a director, I'd stick to the roots of what made Knight Rider and advance it from there. This new director says that the series is a continuation of the old series, however, I have not watched the show yet and until it is released.. Only then can I make a final opinion about the subject.

The new show is fantastic and I will say it as good as the old Knight Rider. The new KITT is great and I love all the gadgets and transformations he does. He has a great sense of humor and I found the show funny and kept me at the edge of my seat. Justin is a great person to play the lead role. All the actors/actresses were fantastic and I hope it stays around as long as the old series did. I heard in the 2nd half of the season that David will be on some episodes so i can't wait to see that. I think he should be added on permanently and bring back the old KITT and KARR as well.
I liked the new show. I think Justin did a great job. The new kitt looks cool. Everybody was fantastic. I hope this series last. And I also agree with frieda David should be added on permanently.
My Two Cents on Knight Rider “08”

My comments are intended to be constructive not destructive.

First, is the Hoff even interested in reprising his role as Michael Knight Sr.?

Second, I think they should dump the feds, and have the Hoff join the cast as a regularcast member, filling the role ocupied by the late Edward Mulhares (Devon Miles) it’s the logical progression of where Knight Rider would go. Michael Knight Sr. was the original operative, when Devon passed away it seems only natural he would move up to director of Knight Industries, makes sense to me.

My best guess.. they will save Hoff and Original K.I.T.T. for either sweeps week or the last episode of the season.

This was only the first episode. It’s going to take few episodes to build the characters and story line.

It has potential, and I think every fan of the original Knight Rider should give it a fair shot and judge it on its own merit and not expect a remake of the original series.

That being said:

There are some basic guidelines NBC should follow.
Story line:
Battlestar Galactica followed the basic original story line. Re-imagined worked great
Bionic Woman didn’t follow the original story line and had a lot of special effects. Didn’t work.

Main Character:
Knight Rider was never solely about “K.I.T.T.” per say. It was the story of one man (the Hoff)trying to make a difference in the world of criminals who are above the law. K.I.T.T. As great as he was merely a tool and not the main character or focus of the series, that honor befell Michael Knight (Hoff). They did make a great team.

Michael Jr. needed to take his fathers name; honestly it would not have worked if he kept Tracuer.

K.I.T.T.
Originally K.I.T.T was classified, built by a private company and his existence wasn’t common knowledge.

Here the series seems to be built around K.I.T.T. more than any other character. Example ads read “KITT HAPPENS” Not “KNIGHT RIDER RETURNS”.

If producers think people will watch this show because of the car, they should remember the Dukes of Hazzard 1982 (when Bo & Luke left). Ratings nose dive.

Also the original show was believable because you believed Micheal Knight & K.I.T.T. could both exist. Face it the Hoff made you believe K.I.T.T.was real. But the car wasnt no slouch either, that dash was and still is the coolest thing I have ever seen in a car. The nose extended and the lights blacked out. Hmm a car built for stealth & speed, with no real weapons. Lets face it KITT was built for surveillance and to protect Michael Knight.

New K.I.T.T. is lacking technology in the dash area. As for surveillance lets see Mag wheels and a blower, glowing blue lights, hmm let me sneak up on you in that.

Also the transforming into a FORD truck? Bad idea. Anyone who has ever been to jumptheshark.com pretty much will agree if the original series jumped the shark at all it was with super pursuit mode. In the case of Knight Rider “08” that would be Pick-up Truck K.I.T.T. mode.

KITT is still not complete so he might improve with time.

Knight Industries:
Neither Wilton Knight, Devon Miles or Michael Knight Sr. would have allowed the FBI or any other agency to take control of Knight Industries, which was a privately owned company.

COBRA and KR logo everywhere. Plain and simple the logo for Knight Industries has always been a chess piece. The COBRA logo & the glowing “KR” under K.I.T.T. are just advertisement for FORD.

Mobile Headquarters.
Following the story line, K.I.T.T. from time to time needs field support, is that plane going to land in every state?

The K.I.T.T. Cave is cool and all but it can’t travel.

What with the plane? Is it a tribute to Team Knight Rider?

WOW Talk about your covert ops…Michael & K.I.T.T. are undercover and on a top secret mission and to save the world.. Don’t mind the big plane parked
i thinke the new serie is ok are the original knight rider is the best i love the hoff greet from germany
I've seen the new episode and I plan on watching it a couple more times. But, my feeling is if they keep doing what they are doing in this first episode they aren't going to make it to season two. I agree totally with what Tony P has said in this thread. Basically, there is no originality in this show thus far. It's borrowing off of Transformers, Viper, Fast and Furious. When KITT changed into the truck I almost quit watching it. I understand that they are trying to be futuristic, but they are going overboard. Is it Transformers or is it Knight Rider? And way too many characters and storylines. It's supposed to be about a lone crusader fighting against criminals who are above the law. With their storyline, they need to add a little at a time, instead of trying to put everything into one episode. Just my opinion on the show thus far.
