Which do you think it would be the perfect role for David Hasselhoff if he made a new film? I have a few ideas and I would like to read other opinions. Who knows DH starts thinking about cinema again. He's great in music and acting, but I think is better to keep this two things separated.

Some kind of self-persiflage (to get peolpe into cinemas), maybe with some deeper moments or some scenes that would offer him the ability to show some of his talents, he isn't yet too known for. For example I was told that he wanted to bring out a CD with another music style, but no publisher would publish it, because Hasselhoff stands for a narrow 80ies music style.
So I thought about, maybe take up what he had said about him bringing the Belrin Wall down. Big Joke in Germany, so set the beginning of the movie in late 1989, him standing on the wall, singing "Looking for Freedom", with his blinking jacket, but then, he gets some idea to travel east. Traveling through the then still east-block countries, he chases the commies out with his songs, him singing "Limbo dance" and the old rulers entering an airplane to the carribean for their retirement exile...
Something like this. I am thinking of "Die nackte Gitarre", if you are German and know this film by Dieter Thomas Kuhn. (he does 70ies style music and in the film he travelled back to the 70ies, but eastern Germany, and he takes all possibilities to sing one of his songs).
One could put in some more thought provoking scenes, maybe with David warning eastern Europeans of the kind of capitalism we have today (think occupy), but this would have to be carefully done. It bears the risk of ruining the whole comedy part.
One would need some evil evil villain, too, that David can save a beautiful girl from (romance is never wrong), or he could run ot of money at some point when he just happens to be on the Black Sea shore, so he gets a job as life guard...
I am not quite sure how to put this all into one story, but that's the way my thoughts go. They might be very Germany-based (blame me, I am German). But if you want to stereotype David, it comes down to singer, rescuer of those in trouble (knight rider, baywatch nights) and then the beach part (baywatch)...

I was thinking of a more serious role. I'll live a sentence as a hint..."Sometimes you do everything so you will not be forgoten but that journey can lead you to forget who you realy are and what is realy important to have balance in your life.".
Permalink Reply by Benjamin on January 16, 2012 at 5:11pm maybe also a series... it just came to my mind: David and Mr. T working as social workers in a real bad neighbourhood, dealing with real problems of nowadays (not necessarily set in the US, but why not). I am thinking of something more realistic than "Highway to Heaven" with Michael Landon and Victor French, not in the Family series category, so it is not hindered from dealing with the bigger problems in a realistic way.
I like Mr. T, so I am thinking of this double role, it'd be rather serious too, and it still fits into both their standard schemes I think. One could also have Mr. T being a pastor and David the social worker of a church community, this cold maybe even get some more conservative people watch the show... (but then it'd have to stick to the social help part even closer. I don't want to see David or Mr. T getting into any religious flamewars)
Permalink Reply by Sandra Kogelheide on January 27, 2012 at 5:12pm The perfect role will be James Bond because David has the personality and the body for the role.
The Knight Rider continuation was completely wrong.
David should been given the role of Edward Mulhare (alias Devon Miles), so to say the head of the foundation.
In this case he would appear in every series.
And Kitt should stay the modified Pontiac TransAm, only with a few new functions and this special touch of a human beeing.
I think the new Knight Rider would have found a lot more acceptance, doing it this way.
