I was asked by Anastasia to join this group after I made a post on the main forum regarding David. Below is my original message and then some new thoughts.
Hi David and all,
I only joined this website because I heard David was ill again. I have had a problem with drinking for a few years and I know what you are going through. Thinking back on all my promises, drying out and "one drink won't hurt" I have learnt many things. At the end of the day just one drink may tip you over the edge although not neccesarily straight away, maybe even months later. Its just not worth it. Its a waste of time, money, families love and damages your health. You don't need alcohol, nobody does. Now I go into pubs and spend very little money (I dont have 10 pints of lemomade in one night!) and am not lying in bed recovering the next day. Also, I found that reading the book by Allen Carr call "The easy way to stop drinking" weired but VERY helpful. Also, if you know Alice Cooper then perhaps you should give him a ring. He was on British radio last week talking about his past problems and how he helps others now.
I hope someone passes this message onto David and he can email me if he wants. The main thing is to get better.

The Allen Carr book is weird and I wasn't really sure if it worked after I had read it but after a while you realise it has. After all (using a theme from the book) why would you pay to drink something that will make you even more dehydrated than you first were, therefore needing another drink to quench your thirst?
I think its also good to look at people you may admire who have achieved alot in life but are teetotal. These include Muhammed Ali, Prince Andrew, David Beckham, Warren Buffet, Alice Cooper, Tom Cruise, Abraham Lincoln and lol Hitler!
There is probably nobody in history who could credit there success in life to drinking and most heavy drinkers will die early and be penniless and lonely.
It has taken me about 20 years to realise this but I am thinkful I have learnt it now. Hope nobody else falls into the alcohol trap. (The alcohol trap is another phrase from Allen Carrs book)
Thank you, Andy!
I'm very glad to see you here!
that's really very interesting. I've found many positive comments about books by Allen Carr. I have not read it myself, but would be interested. )))
Allen Carr wrote books about fighting with smoking and weight as well. I thing, we should have the link to the official site here: Allen Carr Easy Way.
Hello again, Andy!
I want ask you a question. I belive, that every addicted person (smoking, alcohol) has their benefits for doing it. For example, to feel more brave, have a better mood, or something like this. That's, I guess, is a subconscious reason of addiction. Was it right for you (I don't ask your reasons, of cause) and did it change after reading a book?
