Being in Berlin is bringing back so many memories. I would love to hear your memories of me and Berlin and especially where you were when the Wall came down. Cant wait to read them all and reminisce ...

I was watching the events unfold like so many other Germans. We were too excited to stay in our seats, so we kept wandering around the living room not able to believe what we saw. We were so moved by the events, we were crying at times. My family had been divided by the fence that separated East from West Germany. My Grandmother took my five year old Mother one night in 1945 and they crossed the border just before it was sealed completely. Two of my Mom's teenage cousins managed to jump the fence shortly thereafter and were raised by my grandmother, but the rest of our family stayed behind. We spent many years traveling to East Germany and sending care packages that often didn't arrive. When the Wall came down that evening in 1989, it was a very special moment for us because it meant that now our relatives could come visit us too.
New Year's Eve in 1989 I really wanted to be in Berlin but I did not have the money because I was preparing for my move to Texas. That year was my last New Year's Eve in Germany and seeing you perform "Looking For Freedom" at the remains of the wall made it all that more special. I have been a fan of yours ever since. I truly believe you were meant to record that song that year to accompany the events that unfolded.

Wish I could've been there, but I do have some of this wondeful moment in Hoff history, on a video of mine, from your DH Int. Fan Club of the 80's called, David Hasselhoff & the Night Rockers...I love it! My kids & I just watched it a few weeks ago.:-)

Dear David,
what a pity that I was not there to see you. I love Berlin and I hope you had a great time there. Did you realised that things changed so fast during the last years. Everyday you could find a new place and more sights. What do you think is the strongest alteration, you realised?

Hey there you "little part of history", sure you enjoyed your stay in Berlin. Wanted to be there, too, but it has to wait until after Xmas.
Looking back to '89 I think about it as a fateful year for me, in two meanings. Didn't realize it those days, just a 12 year old girl. All I am today I wouldn't be if the wall was still standing. The place I live in, the job I do and the guy I'm married to.
He took several trips to the GDR since he was 17 (and I still a baby), and the day they declared the opening of the border he watched it all on TV and couldn't believe it.
On the other side of the border two or three days later we took our first trip into "the west", and the most important thing to me was getting my first BRAVO (with you on title).
About six years after these historical days life brought us together. But in between I had another man in my head and heart: you. And this was also a thing that changed me. You turned my life upside down. Couldn't believe what was happening to me. Thought I was going crazy. Then I began to write, think that saved me from drowning.
Anyway, it's a looooong story. (Follow me if you like: www.ende-der-nacht.de)

Being drunk at a Berlin MTV award show will not improve your chances for a comeback, my dear.

I was at home here in Italy and watched everything on tv, I could not believe it but it was true!! after less than two years I went for the first time in that wonderful city and met my amazing friends. I am still in contact with them and I go there to this my second family and the beautiful Berlin quite oft. Each time I visit Belin I usually go to the Brandenburger Tor and think also about you!!
I was already your fan, but I'll never forget that time :-)
thank you for being there!!!
ciao, silvia
