Here's what David said about DWTS found on various sources online:

David Hasselhoff hasn't yet hit the ballroom on "Dancing with the Stars," but he told Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson he has a good idea on how to get ahead with the viewers.
"You've just got to look good, hit your mark, you know, be charming," David said of his ideas for conquering the "Dancing" fans. "It's kind of like jumping out of an airplane. You just kind of hang on to your dance partner and hope the shoot opens. And if it opens and you land, maybe you'll make it to the next round."
While he is known for his lengthy television career thanks to shows like "Knight Rider," where he played a crime fighter; "Baywatch," which saw him serving as a life guard boss; and "America's Got Talent," where he helped send undiscovered artists on their way to stardom, David told Shaun he is heading to "DWTS" with a little bit of dancing experience too.
"I danced in a dress in 'The Producers.' I wore a dress and high heels and played Roger DeBris. And then I had 50 dancers behind me doing the same dance when I was playing the gay Hitler [character]," David said of his roles in the stage production. "That was a huge challenge for me, but it wasn't what this thing has got prepared for [me]."
The actor said he thinks he'll do best in whichever dance "has got the most attitude," but if he runs into trouble, he has a "Knight Rider"-worthy backup plan.
"When things get bad - 'Pick me up KITT,'" he said, referring to his four-wheeled "Knight Rider" companion.

DAVID HASSELHOFF has his two daughters to thank for his upcoming stint on U.S. TV show DANCING WITH

THE STARS - they convinced him to sign up after another celebrity dropped out.
The former Baywatch star was announced as one of the contestants for the forthcoming show on Monday (30Aug10), alongside Jennifer Grey, Audrina Patridge and Michael Bolton.
He turned down a last-minute place on the series because of the "insane" pain he experienced while performing onstage in the West End - but his daughters Taylor Ann and Hayley urged him to don his dancing shoes once again.
Hasselhoff says, "I wasn't going to do it, then I heard someone fell out and my daughters said, 'Come on dad'.
"I said no for a long time and my daughters kept convincing me: 'Dad, you always tell us you've got to go for it'. I always said, 'No, it's not my forte, there's a lot of pain involved!'"
"The pain I went through (in the West End) was insane and I was terrified right until opening night when I was jumping out of an airplane. So I'm looking at this, like, grab a dance partner, strap on and jump out of a plane. Hopefully we'll land safely!"
The season premiere hits screens in the U.S. on 20 September (10).

Bristol Palin and Kyle Massey aside, David Hasselhoff might be "Dancing with the Stars'" biggest surprise for Season 11. And for good reason. He was was a last minute substitute -- though he's not saying for whom.
Zap2it caught up with the "Knight Rider" star, recent roast-ee and German national treasure at the August 30 "DWTS" cast reveal event where he shared apprehensions about joining the show and explained why now is the perfect time to take the plunge.

"After I got the call, I told my daughters, 'It looks like somebody fell out and they want me to do the show,'" says Hasselhoff, who, with a tour, reality series ("The Hasselhoffs"), and film ("Dancing Ninja") on deck, wanted to decline.
"This stuff is painful. I've done Broadway, I've done the West End with 40 of the top dancers in the world behind me and I was in such pain. Watching this show, I'd turn it on and say, 'No, never.'"
Never ended up being a bit unrealistic. Hasselhoff says he caved just two days before the announcement, citing his daughters' insistence and a new confidence in his physical state as rationale for coming on board.
"I'm in pretty good shape right now because I've been working out out with my daughter," he explains, referring to Hayley, star of ABC Family's "Huge." "She was training, trying to get in shape for the series, and turned me on to these boot camps she was doing. [Now] my stamina is up, but my knees are still a mess and I'm falling apart. I'm 58."
But only one day into rehearsals, he's still in one piece -- and surprised by the company of his new cast. "The feeling around here is a lot different than I expected," he says. "It's a great, warm, humble group of people that are really nice."
Let's revisit that once they've gotten an eyeful of the magical mirrrorball trophy.
