I'm afraid I am going to hassle the hoff!

We took a group of young disabled people to see Peter Pan at the Bristol Hippodrome on 3rd January 2012.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show and was very excited at the prospect of meeting ‘The Hoff’ afterwards.  As many of our members are wheelchair users it took some time to get everybody outside and by that time quite a substantial crowd had built up at the stage door.  David eventually came out to meet the crowd but unfortunately no one noticed the wheelchair users at the back who due to their disability, were unable to jostle their way through the crowd.  As a result, none of our group got the chance to meet ‘The Hoff’ and they were subsequently very disappointed.  Some even resorted to tears.  I also noticed another wheelchair user who was not from our group but was also trying to get an autograph.  I have just been reading the local newspaper where David is quoted as saying, “ After every show I go out and meet all the fans. I know it means so much to them.” Of course I appreciate that newspapers are known for often miss quoting but I also get the impression that David Hasselhoff is genuine in what he says.  The purpose of this correspondence is by no means a criticism but I am merely trying to highlight a further difficulty often faced by disabled people.  So David please, next time you come out to meet a crown of fans, be mindful that there may be some wheelchair users at the back who would love to meet you but by nature of their disability are not able to push through the crowd.
