CHAPTER ONE:  THE NEWS

  Taylor-van Hasseltruck was watching the local news.  Taylor-van:  How can they be so cruel?  David Hasseltruck:  Did you say something honey?   Taylor-van:  Dad you gotta see this news report about this group of cars that call themselves the Carfia.  They are so mean. David started watching it with his daughter.  News:  So far six cars have exploded because of Carfia attacs in the last couple of days.  the explosions take out about half a city block.  No one knows why these attacs have taken place.  if anyone sees anything suspious please notify the authoritys immendently.  If we learn anything more about the Carfia gang we will keep you updated.  Taylor-van:  What's going on dad?  David Hasseltruck:  Im not sure but i hope no one else gets hurt.  Taylor-van:  I think i am going to tell Harley about it.  Harley is taylor-vans younger sister.  David Hasseltruck:  Good idea.  Hon i gotta go, I have a concert in an hour and a half, plus i need to get some gas.  Taylor-van:  Please be carefull dad, i love you.  David Hasseltruck:  I love you and Harley also Taylor-van.  I always try to be carefull.  Hasseltruck hugged his daughter and left for the concert.

CHAPTER TWO:  THE CONCERT 

  On his way to the concert Hasseltruck stopped at sams gas station.  Hasseltruck:  fill it up Sam.  Hasseltruck paid for the gas and he was once again on his way to the concert.  Everyone was there waiting for him to arive.  Hasseltruck:  Im here guys!  They have about thirty minuets to reherse before the concert starts.Finally it is concert time.  Everyone is ready.the music starts.  About halfway through the concert Hasseltruck starts feeling sick.  At first he tries to ignore it.  He feels his oil pressure rising to high, and he starts shakeing uncontobly.  Hasseltruck:  S-ssometing is w-wrong i-i feel--------.  All at once Hasseltrucks battery exploids.  The curtan closes immedently.  Joe Tounland:  Oh my God what happened?  Joe is hasseltrucks manager.  Joe:  He needs to go to Sparkys  now, give him some water!by now steam was comming out of Hasseltrucks engine.about five minuets Tow the tow  truck that works for sparkly arived.  Tow:  Ill take it from here guys, ill also give him more water.  dont worry ill be carefull.  Joe:  You better be.  a couple of the stage hands helped get Hasseltruck onto  the tow truck.  In five minuets they were on their way to Sparkys.  Tow:  Hang in there pal ill get you there safely.  Hasseltruck was quiet.  Ten minuets later they arived at sparkys.  By now the steam from Hasseltrucks engine was very thick. 

  Sparky:  Ive got the whole block blocked off.  Oh no not another carfia attac!  Not  Hasseltruck!  Sparky was in tears.he gave Hasseltuuck more water.  Sparky:  i just hope i have enough time to save him.  Sparky drained all of Hasseltrucks oil and gas.  Sparky:  Tow look at the color of the gas, it is poison gas like they use in prisons.  Tow;  How did he get that kind of gas inside his tank?   Sparky:  Im not sure but the authorities will be intrested in this.  Tow:  How is Hasseltruck doing?  Sparky:  He isnt doing very well at all.  i hate to say it because we have been friends for many years but i dont think he is going to make it  his whole engine and other major parts are far to coroded to repair.  Some of the poison even leaked into his brain.  I am going to work on him for about six hoursto try and save him, but it is doubtfull it will work.  He is far to gone. 

CHAPTER THREE:  KITTS DECISON

  President Kitt was watching the news about the Carfia attacs.  News:  Sence our last report thirty more cars and a couple of trucks have been sabatoged by the Carfia.  This includes entertainer professionel singer David Hasseltruck.  Mt. Hasseltruck got sick at his concert and had to be rushed to sparkys automotive  several hours ago. .  Last we heard  Hasseltruck was in critical condition.  Sparky said that he was not totaly sure he could save his costumer and friend.  The streets are still blocked so no one can get to Sparkys.  All our hope and prayers go out to the Hasseltruck family.  And now the weather in sunny Daytona Florida--------------------.

  Kitt:That is about fifty vichels so far.  The Carfia have to be stopped.Charley!  Charley was secound in command.  Charley:  What can we do Mr. President?  Kitt:  Contact Karr immendently.  I heard Karr is doing excelent in the Army,  he has lost only one car.  Im sure Karr will tell us about it when he comes.  Let Karr know whats going on here.  Charley:  Yes sir!

CHAPTER FOUR:  THE LETTER

  At the Hasseltruck manson everything was very grim.  Cards, letter and flowers were comming fast.  Both Taylor-van and Harley were in tears.  A small blue and white brittish car was at the Hasseltruck house.  It was Joe.  Joe:  Hello you two.  Both girls hugged Joe.  Taylor-van:  Thanks for comming Joe, we really do appricate it.  Joe:  Not only did i work for your dad he was and still is a good friend of mine.  I will stay and help you the best i can.  Harley;  I cant believe hes gone Joe, i just cant believe it-sniff.  Joe:  I know.  Hey you have letters, mabe you should read some of them.  Taylor-van picked up one of the letters and opened it.  It read:

Dear Hasseltruck Family.  I am sorry to hear the news about your father.  I was at the concert when it happened.  This was worse than any horror story ive ever read and scary than any movie ive seen.  When your dads battery blew i thought i was going to be sick, not because of the oder of the blast but because it was your dad.  After the curtan closed there was an announcement for us to leave the building in a quiet ordly manner.  Of course there was a riot instead.  Cars and trucks were pushing each other out of the way.  They asked us to hold unto our ticket stubs.  After the announcment the wateer sprinklers came on.  I pationly waited my turn to leave the building.  I was drenched but it was worth it.  I  really hope your dad makes it.  I have been a really big fan of your dads for many years.  Both Taylor-van and Harley are in my prayers.  take care and God Bless, both of you!  Sincerly Jennifer.

CHAPTER FIVE:  KARR VRS THE CARFIA

  An hour after Karr got the message from Charlie about the Carfia he was in daytona.  Karr went to the local news station and got on air and told the carfia to meet him in the middle of town and he told them what time to meet.  Karr also told the media that he needs a couple of miles blocked off because there is going to be a short war between him and 20 cars.  The streets were cleared and Karr was ready for his fight.  All 20 of the Carfia were there also.  Karr:  you will stop this madness now!  The Carfia leader started laughting at Karr.  Carfia leader:  Look at this foolishh car.  he thinks he can defeat alll 20 of us Hahaha!  Mabe he needs some gas to think about this.Haha!  Karr:  i wouldnt do that if i were you.

  All ar once a huege fan came out tof Karrs hood.  several of the Carfia spit a lot of the poision gas at Karr.  the fan came on and was spinning counter clockwise sucking up the gas.  Karr:  you are going to wish you never did that!  All at once the fan started spinning clockwise and the gass flew back at the Carfia hitting 10 cars.  Karr" 10 of you are now infected with your own gas. normaly you would have about 45 minuets to live, but sence this is war it will be much shorter.  Carfia leader:  How did you do that?  Karr:  i have plenty of tricks left like this one.

  All at once the fan dissapeared and a missle launcher fully loaded appeared.  seeveral of the Carfia started to back up and try to run.  Karr:  You will not excape me!  Hasta la vista Carfia!  all at once rockets shot off in every direction.  the noise was deafining.  Water oil gas and car parts were everywhere.  it really was a war zone.  scrap medle went through glass windows.  it knocked down light poles and snashed up a lot of properity.

the war was over in about 20 minuets.  fire was everywhere.  the smell of the fumes was terriable.  The  Carfia was distroyed.  this was going to cost thousounds of dollars to repare.  Karr was in perfect condition.  he callled for some fire trucks to help him clean up the gas.  The damage was unbeliable.  the news media took picturs and wrote about it in the newspapers.  headlines like " once again Karr saves the day "  "the hero Karr"  Karr told the fire engines to let the fires burn off the bad gas becaus the gas could put rust spots on a regular cars paint.  Karr:  just make sure the fires do not go past the war zone.  after a few hours the fires burned themselves out.  Karr:  i do not detect any more of the gas.  this area needs a good sanitizing job befor it is safe for the regular viechales to come back.  the firetrucks ran scalding hot water everywhere,  than the area was cleared for everyone to come back.  It wa a mess.

CHAPTER SIX:  THE PRAYER

  Tow went into the garage to check on things.  six hours passed sence Sparky started working on Hasseltruck.  Sparky was in tears.  Sparky:  I did everything i could Tow.  I gave him all new parts,  i was even a little creative.  there was no sign of life at all.  Im afread he is dead.  Tow:  Should i go tell everyone the bad news than?  Sparky: No not yet.  Im going for a little walk.  When i come back i will unhook Hasseltruck from life support and than you can tell them.  Please stay with him for a few minuets Tow.

Sparky left the garage sobbing.  Tow stood over Hasseltruck and he began to pray;  Dear God,  if there is anyway that you can spare our dear friend please do so now.  Hasseltruck did not deserve to die like this,  he is one of the best trucks of them all.  im not talking about the fact that he is famous.  it is about the kind of vechole he is.  Hasseltruck is very careing and he loves everyone.  even if he was poor he would find a way to give to others,  that is his nature.  You know that me and Sparky care alot about him, so does his girls.  Is this fair fo them to loose there father like this?

  I know you know what you are doing Lord, but please spare his life.  Im begging you.  Hasseltruck still has a lot to do here on earth, please let him finish his work here.  Hassletruck needs to be here to watch his girls grow up more so they can have husbends and familys of their own.  Please give us a miricle and spare Hasseltrucks life.  Thank you God!  Amen!

  All at once Hasseltrucks headlights start to come on.  at first Tow dosent notice.  All at once Tow hears a quiet voice like a whisper. Hasseltruck:  Water, i-i need water.  Tow:  Hasseltruck!  You are alive!  Tow gave Hasseltruck some water.  Hasseltruck:  T-thanks T-tow.  Tow looked toward the sky.  Thank you! he breathed.  Hasseltruck;  No t-t-hannk you.  Tow:  i was thanking God for saveing your life.  i have a very important question to ask you.  Hasseltruck: Ok.  Tow:  do you remember where you got that gas from.  Hasseltruck: Yea, Mikes gas, why?  Tow:  because that is poison gas.  it almost killed you.  Karr just put an end to the Carfia and now we can close down the gas station and give the gas back to its rightfull owners.

  A few minuets  later Sparky came back.  Sparky:  Ok Tow you can go tell them now.  Tow;  Sparky i have something important to tell you first.  I know where the poison gas is coming from.  Sparky came into the room and almost fainted.  Hasseltruck:  H-hello S-sparky!  Sparky droped the sheet he was careing.  Sparky:  you are alive, but how?  Tow:  i prayed and he came back to life.  Sparky:  Than i guess you have good news to tell everyone.  Sparky went to his toolbox and took out a tube of some medicine.  he put some of the medicine in Hasseltrucks engine.  Sparky:  this will keep you under controle for a little while.  it is lubercant.  this will keep you sadated.  i want you to go home and get bedrest for about two weeks.  the medication began to make Hasseltruck very groggery.

 Hasseltruck: W-w-what about the c-concert S-sparky.   Sparky:  Forget about that for now.  You need healing time.  I am not just your machnic i am also your doctor.  before you go you will need a sanitize bath.  Sparky called Chief the fire engine.  Both Tow and Sparky pushed Hasseltruck outside.  Cheif was waiting outside.  Chief:  Welcom back from the dead!  a large gust of hot water came out and washed Hasseltruck.  Hasseltruck:  Oooooo that feels s-s-soo good!  After Hasseltrucks bath Chief also hosed down Tow and Sparky.

  After his bath Tow told the crowd the wonderfull news about Hasseltruck.  The crowd cheered.  Tow went over to the batmobile.  Tow:  Sherif, i need you to controle the crowd while i take hasseltruck home.  He is very week right now and he needs bedrest.  Sharif:  Ok ill take care of the trafic, you take care of Hasseltruck.

 CHAPTER SEVEN:  THE LAW SUIT

   The next day after Hasseltruck went home, Sparky came to visit him.  Joe and the girls opened the couch as a bed so he would not have to climb the stairs.  Sparky wanted to talk to Joe privatly.  Joe and Sparky sat on the porch.  Sparky:  Joe i am worried abour Hasseltruck.  Joe:  why?  He seams to be ok.  Sparky:  No hes not.  Some of the poison got into his brain.  i dont know if he will ever be able to sing again.  He did not have that stutter before.  only a little of the gas got into his brain, this could lead to niner memory loss, temper  tantrums, i hope not.  Joe:  Isnt there anything we can do for him?  Music is his life, there has got to be something we can do for him.

 Sparky:  He will need a lot of thearpy both mentlelly and phycal.  it will take a lot of work.  Joe:  How long are we talking about?  Sparky:  The rest of his life.  If we are lucky Hasseltruck will be able to go back  to his singing carreer in a few years.  He can learn to cope with his disability.  I will start his thearpy but it is up to him to contunie with it.  If he dosent stay with the program he will never sing again.  he will also be on certin medications the rest of his life,  this will help him try and stay focast and be able to concentrate.  This is not going to be easy for him.  Joe:  Ok Sparky, thanks for the innformation.  We will do our best to help him.  Sparky;  I want to try something with Hasseltruck Joe.  Joe:  What do you want to do?  Sparky;  joe do you have his cd Looking For Freedom?  Joe:  Yes i do.  Sparky:  Please get it for me.  Joe; Ok.

  Sparky and Joe went back inside.  Sparky;  Hasseltruck i would like you to sing Looking For Freedom with the cd.  Sparky started playing the song.  Hasseltruck tried to keep up with the words but he couldnt.  Hasseltruck:  Whats wrong with me?  Sparky:  Just as i thought.  Sparky explained everything to Hasseltruck.  Tears came into Hasseltrucks eyes.  Hasseltruck:  My carreer is ruined then?  Sparky:  Not nesscerly, if you go through the thearpy and take your medicine hopefully in a coulpe of years you will be back on stage.  Hasseltruck;  ill do it!

  Harley Hasseltruck came in the house with an angry expression on her face.  Harley:  Some folks have a lot of nerve!  She slamed down the tabloyed on the table.  Joe picked it up and read the headlines:  HASSELTRUCK'S CARREER FINISHED!  The article said that because of the near death experience his carreer was over.  They called Hasseltruck names like retarded and a has been.  Joe was furious.  Joe:  These people are defently going to be sued for this.  He let Hasseltruck read it.  Hasseltruck:  G-get m-my lawyer now!

  Joe and the Hasseltrucks won the law suit.  David Hasseltruck devided the money, half of it went to rebuilding the part of Daytona that was distroyed during the war between Karr and the Carfia.  The other half went for a memoral wall for all 49 victoms of the Carfia attacs.  All of the names were written in gold letters.

CHAPTER EIGHT:  THE NEXT GENERATION

  It took three years before Hasseltruck was ready to get back on the stage again.  He went back to the same theather  whe he got sick and did a two hour concert.  most of everyone kept their ticket stubs from before.  After that he decided to do the truck is back tour.  Everyone was happy to have him back.  When he took his medicine he did not struter and he was able to concentrate on what he was doing.  on days he forgot to take his medicine he would stutter tremendsly and he lost his temper with everyone.  The medication kept him calm.

  thirty years after his near death experience Hasseltruck retired from singing.  Both Taylor-van and Harly grew up and got married and had kids of their own.  Hasseltruck lived till age 95,  he never remarried.

  Karr retired from the Army after 25 years.  Karr married a whate trans-am named Bonnie.  They had a son Garth.  When Garth was old enough he took his fathers place in the Army.  Garth had his fathers attitude.  Kitt was preaident for eight years.  Kitt married a car named April.  they had a son and named hin Devon.

Sparky closed down his garage six years after the Hasseltruck incedent.  Sparky stayed single.  Tow also retired single.  Mikes gas spation was demolished.  The war zone in Daytona Florida in a year and a half was fully restored and back in business.  Long after Hasseltrucks death he contuned to make millions of dollers on his songs.  he was in the Gunis book of world records several times.  Once for being the only surviver of the deadly gas attacks.  Also for his record sales.  Hasseltruck will forever be a hero and a well known icon for many years.
